The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a professional Twenty20 cricket league in India, established by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2008. The league features ten teams representing various Indian cities and states. Matches typically occur annually between March and May.

Structure and Format[edit | edit source]

The IPL follows a round-robin format during the league stage, where each team plays matches both at home and away against every other team. Following the league stage, the top four teams progress to the playoffs, which include Qualifier 1, an Eliminator, Qualifier 2, and the Final. The winning team of the Final is crowned the IPL champion.
